Cenote in Cenotes Zapote Prehistoric Park

About Cenotes Zapote Prehistoric Park

It is a Prehistoric Park that houses four different cenotes. On our tours, you will be able to explore 2 open-air cenotes and an underground cenote (Cavern) that is more than 10 thousand years old. Immerse yourself in a park located in the middle of the jungle, a thematic space that celebrates Mayan culture and traditions. Discover the story of Xibalbaonyx Oviceps, an extinct sloth from the ice age, a new species of giant sloth whose first records date between 10,647 and 10,305 BC, honored in the Cenotes Zapote park with the name "POTE". In addition, you will learn about the fascinating history of the Hell Bells, also known as Campanas Del Inframundo, unique speleotemic formations that take the shape of bells. These are found in the Zapote cenote, forming a complete circuit 30 meters deep.
